newsHere is the second community news in the bruce e-zine and we'll start it off with New Year's eve. Phil and Beth Press came down from their parkside domicile in Larchmont and I prepared them a gourmet meal which I worked my fingers to the bone purchasing in Dean and DeLuca. Afterwards we walked over (it was an incredibly mild night here in New York, deceptive for the Winter to come) to Astor Place where we saw "The Blue Men" do their incredible routine. You must all know about their ongoing success, but it was actually the first time I saw them. They had a New Year's party in the theatre and provided a special show for the event.

Trish was looking peaceful when she posed for this photo, but something must have been going on behind Blueman 1 to create such a distracted look on his face. Think so?
Meanwhile, Phil and Beth both looked too beautiful to describe. So I won't! |

Around Yule (Christmas to some) we met my sister Kate, her huisband Michael, and my Aunt Rose and Uncle Duke at a centrally located Long Island restaurant set up for just such rendezvous. Everyone was happy to be with everyone else and it was a nice little family gathering without the usual pressures which those events are famous for |

It was January and the days were short and the nights long and Trisha had the idea of taking a weekend intensive in Spanish to help her with her work teaching Hispanic children to speak (she is a speech therapist and has many bi-lingual students). I thought I'd tag along and as my Spanish is pretty good already I decided to go for the Intensive French weekend and there I met my new French guru, Cristina Rufin, a Belgian princess hiding out in NYC. The experience was so much fun that I followed her to the 92nd Street Y where she teaches an extended French conversation course and I enrolled. Now, it's Tuesdays with Cristina. Merci, Cristina, pour etre vous meme! |
| Meanwhile, getting into the French mood, we found out that there is this place on Broadway and 13th Street called Belle Epoque and it features real N'Orleans Zydeco dancing. You should see our 3 step, man. We are rockin! | ![]() |
| My friend Ron Brie and his lovely lady, Loren, just moved into this fantastic apartment off Central Park on East 86th Street. Ron can also be found on my Links page because he is an expert in after care and I met him many years ago when I purchased a policy from him. We have a lot in common and we became friends. He's also a black belt in karate and has numerous broken bones to prove it, but he keeps kicking anyway | ![]() |

Here's a weird one. Back at Val d'Isere we met and hung out with many really interesting and friendly people from all parts of Europe and the Middle East. This couple had dinner with us on a few occasions and told us all about their new house in Geneva, where they lived and worked, their children, their trip to New York . .you name it. They gave us all the contact information one would expect and we parted swearing to stay in touch, visit, etc.. NOT ONE THING THEY GAVE US CHECKED OUT! Their addresses, phone numbers and possibly even their names did not show up. You remember my friend Paul S. from the last e-zine? He lives in Geneva and did all kinds of searches. Nada. Has anyone seen these people on the front of milk cartons? |

Hey! Someone came to stay with me while his mommie was in Italy for a few weeks. My beloved fur child, Webster the Magnificent. Besides needing some serious diet and exercise, he's a more mellow and loving little guy who still loves to chase big dogs who can eat him with one gulp, and eat any disgusting thing he can find anywhere anytime. He took me for many long walks and eventually returned to his mom. I really miss the little guy. Seems he will return again, though. Love you Webbie! |
So that will wrap it up this time, mes amies. If Bush's handiwork hasn't got us all murdered in our beds by the 18th of April, I'm hoping that Trisha and I will be heading off to Spain for Eostara. Some great processions are scheduled in Sevilla and Granada and I hope not to miss them. Then there is Cordoba and Malaga and Marbella. Ah well, something will have to give since we only have a week to play, but I'll report on it all next time, along with any other news any of you might like to share. Shed your skins and dance. Life is good. Love to you all, Bruce

P.S. Coming back home on the 6 train the other day I was feeling a bit of the New York tireds when suddenly this team of Mexican Cantadores suddenly appeared and enlivened my spirit with their guitarras and musica. I offered them a few dollars to let me photograph them and to keep playing until we got to Prince Street, They generously accepted and so I share the joy with you all now. Until the equinox!! | ![]() |
