Well here we are at Eostara (the Spring equinox from which is derived the word Easter for those of you who may not have known that little tidbit) and as the northern hemisphere gratefully bids adieu to a long and cold Winter, we seem to find ourselves in a bit of a situation, globally. But where madness reigns, within there is some peace and joy. Even the coldness of this Winter did not diminish the many pleasures and successes so abundantly provided. |
Well, the most important news is that my daughter, Jessica, will be getting married in July! Her fiance, Joe Dunlap, an old schoolmate from the very early grades they spent together, probably not even knowing each other at The Little Red Schoolhouse here in Greenwich Village, is presently working to get his certification to teach in the treacherous NYC school system. Brave lad! I'm really happy for them both. Jess has always been a wonderful daughter and Joe is really a great and loving partner. I kiss both of them ona the heads! Here is a lousy picture of them when they were at my loft a few months ago. I apologize for not having a better one but I promise I will correct that situation!!
| Here they are! The wedding is going to be out on the Chelsea Pier by the Hudson River in mid-July. Afterwards, well a few days afterwards, they are going to head to Belize for some REAL warm weather, clear and pelucid waters, snorkeling and funny drinks in things like coconut shells and parrot nests (?) They live on a really nice street in Brooklyn and get to enjoy a terrific park. Hope this doesn't sound too much like a wedding announcement, but it is! Love you guys. I think you're beautiful! |
It was another terrific season, workwise, as I have made some other really nice sales in Manhattan real estate. My company honored me with the title "Rookie on the Move" and I was enlisted to lecture a training class composed of Corcoran's newest brokers. My enthusiasm and true adoration of the company carried the day and the good energy created there moved me to finish some very nice deals. Onward!

Springtime doesn't only make itself felt in the country. Even here in Manhattan, our building walls take on a new colorful vibrancy in the growing light!¸ |
The highlight of the Winter was definitely the trip to France. The French Alps are beyond description. Skiing Mont Blanc, looking across the peaks to summits in Italy, sapphire skies and fresh white snow, terrific food and wonderful company from all over Europe (we were the only Americans at the resort) . . . it was a real blessing. And I discovered that not skiing like an addictive madman, running to the slopes as much as possible, but relaxing and having a really good week or so once a season, at least for me, makes me a much better and happier skier. I think when I don't ski all the time I forget what I think I don't know and just ski. Turns out I do much better that way.

On one of the great days, Trish and I headed up to Soleil, one of the high areas, and over to a glacier where endless snow and verticals abounded. Passing through a gorge, the light suddenly changed and we saw Carol Lombard and Clark Gable skiing on wooden rails with bear trap bindings. TIME SHIFT!! Their photographer was with them and took this photo of Trish and me as we enjoyed the wonder of it all. In a few moments, all was back to the present. When we returned to the lodge we went to the reading room and found an old Hollywood photo book of the 1930's, and tucked within was this picture. AMAZING! |

These are a few of the snaps from the trip. The middle one above is the view from our room window. Lower right are the Italian peaks just before sunset on our long way back down to the lodge in Val d'Isere The lower left is a view from within the Teleferique, looking doooown into the village as we were quickly moved up to the first peak on our way to a glacier. There are over 300 lifts at the Killy Center, including a train that take us up to the top of Tignes, tunnelled within. Encroyable!
